Being in love
Loving someone
Feeling the tug of your heartstrings
Is beautiful:
Your heart is out there, embracing the world
And somebody is out there, embracing back
that is an incomparable feeling
You are worthy, they say
You are deserving,
You are beautiful: you are too.
Questions swirling in my mind
Questions stirring swirling my stomach
anxieties of anxieties
and of my sensitive nature
lead me to question
lead me to doubt
a great deal.
Even if I wonder, even
if the anxiety whooshes in
even if I doubt
I know, I feel
I am at home with you
Even if I’m unsure
even if the doubts rush in
even if I’m not at home with myself
I’m at home with you.
Shouting and throwing things
spilled tears and spilled dreams
is this really how
we ought to deal with life's seams?
My love, look at me,
look me in the eyes
my dear, imagine a world
with no surprises!
As fuming red turns to foggy hues,
and words come out in two-by-twos
take a step back
and see life's funny cues.
No need to spill and make a mess
if only to one another you'd confess
don't bend over and cry
and spoil your pretty dress!
If only we'd see what's life's everyday
instead of fighting day to day
it's not that hard
if you imagine the beautiful future coming our way.
are those when raindrops fall making them warm again or when the ladder's too tall and it's hard to count to ten consolation kisses smooth the bumps and the rough roads turning the hmphs into sighs as the soul unloads.
Eyes aglow like fire-bathed moonlight
Face shining as if dawn was near my beloved’s soul broad as the whole Earth
Such resplendence beholds my dear.
Her ruddy cheeks are children of love and her nose sits calmly square
Her smile, most of all, warms cold everywhere.
I am beyond grateful, beyond the realm of luck;
To have her so near and to know love knows no fear
Finally to know, to feel, to hear, to understand love.
This is a different parting
Sure, there were tears, there are travels to be
There is the squeeze and tearing of heartstrings
As the tear rolls down your cheek
But there is something different about this
There is something hopeful beneath the sadness
There is a sense of arrival with the departure
The parting with an old past and coming of a future
A hopeful future,
a future bursting with love and hope
To quash those tears,
to breathe in strength anew.
My darling, look how our flowers grow
they’ve had a good year
let them rest now for the winter
to be stronger than ever next year.
Let their roots shatter all doomsaying rocks
let their blossoms urge love to flourish
let their petals take others along the journey
and let the stems hold us all up.
As the autumn rain lashes down, beating the windows to a pulp,
The sky a misty navy grey filled with the week’s memories
Of ochre and crimson maple leaves
Of childhood memories and the sweetest dreams
Linked hands with my beloved
We march, hand in hand, towards our future
For it is you who makes these grey days go flashing by.
I count my blessings and thank all my gods
This opportune fortune is quite something
My veins filled with love and family
A new family, a new life sketching itself
Bathed in summer’s glorious days of sunshine and joy
Love is so thick in the hot summer air
Throwing back feelings of worry and tumult
Overpowering all ills
I count my fortune and my blessings
And think of not endings but beginnings
A life charts itself forward in front of me
Into it I will gladly dive, darling, see?
