About Ondrej
Ondrej Gomola is a student at Lund University in Sweden. Originally from Slovakia but having lived in Ireland and Belgium, ‘home’ is a pretty fluid concept for him. He writes for his university’s paper, Lundagård, about culture and international student experiences. He is also one of the editors of The Perspective, an online foreign affairs-focussed publication from Lund’s Association of Foreign Affairs.
About this website
This website is a place for my poems. All of these poems have been written by me (Ondrej). Some of them are nice, some less so. I’m still learning 🙂
Many are a reflection of what is going on currently in my life or the world, what has happened in the past or what might happen in the future in my life and others’. That was a long-winded way of saying that most poems contain shreds—or more—of true experiences lived by myself, but are intertwined with creativity and imagination.
That’s why you should be careful to not confuse the ‘poet’, the person writing the poems, and the ‘voice’ of the poem, the person or people in the poem. What is in my poems is not necessarily what I think. Or it might be. Sometimes I don’t even know. That’s the beauty of poetry.
I hope you enjoy them.
N.B. my poems are published in chronological order—the order in which they were written—unless stated otherwise.
One merit of poetry few persons will deny: it says more and in fewer words than prose.
